This entry covers the transfer station at 11601 Starcrest Drive in north San Antonio, long operated by Texas Disposal Systems and for years the site most commonly named when San Antonio residents were directed to a private drop-off point. Its status is now unclear, and this page has been stripped back accordingly.

Texas Disposal Systems publishes a detailed gate rate schedule covering every facility it opens to the public. As checked on 16 August 2026, that schedule lists the Creedmoor landfill, the Weimar, Georgetown and Bee Cave transfer stations and the three Garden-Ville brush yards — and does not list Starcrest. Absence from an operator's own current list is a material finding, not a gap in our research, so we have removed the fee figures this page previously carried rather than leave numbers standing that the operator no longer publishes.

We cannot confirm that the Starcrest site is currently open to the public for self-hauled loads. It has historically appeared on City of San Antonio free landfill day notices as a bulky-item location where a safety vest might be required on loan, but that is an event arrangement rather than evidence of routine public access. Anyone planning a trip should telephone Texas Disposal Systems on (800) 375-8375 and confirm before loading a trailer.

If you are a San Antonio solid waste customer, the city's own bulky waste collection centres are the reliable alternative and they cost nothing on production of the environmental fee on a current CPS Energy statement, together with photo ID. The four operating centres are Bitters (1800 Wurzbach Parkway), Culebra (7030 Culebra Road), Rigsby Road (2755 Rigsby Road) and Frio City Road (1531 Frio City Road). Every one of them operates Tuesday through Friday, 08:00–17:00, then Saturday mornings until midday.
