The Arlington Landfill sits at 800 Mosier Valley Road, a mile and a half north of Green Oaks Boulevard, which puts its postal address in Euless even though the City of Arlington owns the ground. Republic Services has run it since the 1960s and takes 4,500 tons a day.
The city publishes a resident rate card and it is priced by vehicle, not by weight, until the vehicle gets big. A car, pickup or trailer under eight feet is a flat $21.00 for the load. At eight feet or longer the basis switches to weight: $41.00 per ton, and a single ton is the floor. Brush and yard waste are cheaper: $11.00 brought in a pickup, $60.00 in a single-axle trailer, $82.00 in a double-axle. Grass and leaves alone cost nothing at all, provided you de-bag them on site. Tires are $11.00 each off the rim and $18.00 on it, four maximum. An improperly tarped vehicle adds $6.00.
All non-hazardous residential and commercial solid waste is accepted; liquids, paint, chemicals and batteries are not. Households arriving in a car or pickup get routed to the convenience station, away from the truck traffic.
Arlington Water Utilities account holders get three free visits a year plus a discount on every additional one, resetting each 1 January. Name, address and driver licence number must all match the water billing account; the benefit reaches permanent Arlington homeowners only and cannot be passed on. It covers passenger vehicles and trailers up to sixteen feet. Four passenger tires a year ride in free with the rims off, and clean concrete is taken free for recycling. Printed coupons were dropped in 2020. Contractors, landlords and apartment tenants pay full rates.
Gates run Monday to Saturday, 7am to 4:30pm, closing on New Year's Day, 4 July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Expect a wait of half an hour or more between 8 and 10 in the morning and 2 to 4 in the afternoon, and all day Saturday. Anyone unloading in the working area must wear a neon safety vest and a neon hard hat, both sold at the scale house, and minors stay in the vehicle. Household hazardous waste goes free to Fort Worth's Environmental Collection Center, 6400 Bridge Street.
