There is no Harrison County Landfill in Texas. The original name stays on this page only because searchers type it. The honest position: Harrison County runs no landfill whatsoever. What it runs is a network of Solid Waste Container Sites - staffed convenience stations - and that is where county residents take household waste.

This page previously carried a fee schedule that was wrong. The figures came from harrisoncountylandfill.org, which is the Harrison County landfill in Iowa, based in Logan, Iowa. Every rate we were showing belonged to that site. They were stripped as soon as we found it, and we have not replaced them with a guess.

The county lists seven container sites: Elysian Fields at 17030 FM 31, north of Elysian Fields; Gill at 10326 Highway 59 South, south of FM 2625, Marshall; Hallsville at 285 Muntz Cut-off; Harleton at Highway 154 and FM 2208; Waskom at 5304 FM 2201, south of FM 1998; Woodlawn at 1233 Baker Bridge Road, off FM 1997, Marshall; and Uncertain at 4299 Broadway on FM 2198, east of Mound Pond Road, Karnack.

The hours are the same at every site and they are unusual, so check them before you set off: Tuesday and Friday 1pm to 6pm, Saturday 9am to 3pm, and Sunday 1pm to 5pm. That is four days a week, three of them afternoons only, and the sites are shut Monday, Wednesday and Thursday entirely.

Harrison County publishes no charge, no accepted-items list and no prohibited-items list for these sites. Rather than invent any of it, we would rather you rang first: the county's Road and Bridge number is 903-935-8400, and each site carries its own local number - Elysian Fields 903-633-2201, Gill 903-923-0991, Hallsville 903-660-0182, Harleton 903-777-2424, Waskom 903-687-2302, Woodlawn 903-934-9297 and Uncertain 903-789-3983. If you have a genuinely large or commercial load, a county container site is the wrong destination and a commercial landfill in the Marshall or Longview area is the right one.
