The landfill at 3935 Avenue A in Santa Fe, in the Alta Loma part of Galveston County, is operated by Republic Services and is one of the main disposal points on the mainland side of the county. Older records list it under the Browning-Ferris name, and it appears in municipal paperwork variously as the Galveston County Landfill and the Republic Services Galveston County Landfill.

This page previously described the site as a Type IV landfill that does not accept household rubbish. That was wrong and it has been corrected. The City of Galveston's own council papers record that the final destination of all city waste is this landfill, and that the city disposes of sanitary sewer solids, grit and treated sludge from its wastewater plants here under a contract with Republic worth up to six figures a year. A site taking a city's entire municipal waste stream is not a Type IV structural-debris cell, and telling readers it refuses household garbage was a material error.

What we still cannot give you is a price. Republic publishes no gate rate, minimum charge or opening schedule for this facility on its own website, routing enquiries instead through a facility locator and a telephone number. Third-party listings quote weekday and Saturday morning opening and customers describe charges in the region of forty to ninety dollars for a pickup load with additional fees layered on top, but none of that comes from the operator and we will not print it as though it did.
