The East Texas Regional Landfill sits on FM 2867 east of Henderson and serves Rusk County and the surrounding region. It is a Waste Connections site, listed by the company under its Henderson operation, and it is open to the public as well as to commercial and municipal account holders. Reach the scale house on (903) 889-2872.
The permit covers a broad range of material: municipal solid waste, construction and demolition debris, brush and yard waste, contaminated soil, dry industrial waste, ash, sludge, non-friable asbestos, car tyres, and white goods and bulky items. Household hazardous waste and liquid waste are excluded.
Anyone driving out needs to know about the protective equipment rule before they arrive. The operator makes every customer at the gate wear a hard hat, a high-visibility vest and eye protection before unloading. That is enforced at the tipping face, not waived for a one-off household load, so pack them with the rest of the trip.
Neither a gate rate nor a reliable opening schedule can be published for this site today, and the reason is worth stating plainly. The operator generates each facility page from one shared template, and the block that renders on the Henderson page carries another landfill's rate heading and another site's hours. Third-party directories are no better: they variously list this landfill as weekdays 8:00am to 4:30pm, as opening at 6:30am with Thursdays closed, and as shut at weekends. Those cannot all be right, and we will not pick one and present it as fact.
Ring ahead. Ask what the gate is open, what the minimum charge is for a pickup or small trailer, whether the rate is by weight or by volume, and which payment methods the scale house takes. Ask too whether your specific material needs a special waste profile, since contaminated soil, sludge and asbestos are handled under separate arrangements rather than at the ordinary gate rate.
