The Comal County Recycling and Chipping Center at 281 Resource Drive takes recyclables from county residents at no charge, and it is the county's only drop-off point for brush. Doors open at 6:30am on weekdays and stay up until 4pm, with Saturday running 7am to noon and Sunday shut; the brush yard closes a quarter of an hour ahead of the rest.
What it takes is narrower than people expect. Aluminium drink cans, chipboard, corrugated cardboard, moving boxes, rinsed tin cans with the labels off, metal of any kind, appliances and electronics all go through. Paper, plastics and glass do not, in any form, and neither do televisions, computer monitors or lithium batteries. Everything must be clean and rinsed where required.
Brush is charged by what you arrive in: $15 for a pickup, $30 for a trailer of fourteen feet or under, $45 above that, and $150 for a roll-off dumpster or dump truck. Car and regular pickup tires are $2 each, clean and off the rim.
