The Cleburne Transfer Station at 2625 Pipeline Road is run by the City of Cleburne, and its resident allowance is generous — but it comes with two limits that are easy to miss because the city publishes them on a different page from the fees.
City residents get one standard-vehicle-size load free. The limits are that it is once every 30 days, and capped at 800 pounds. It is not an unlimited free pass, and a heavy single load can exceed 800 pounds well before it looks full.
The free load also depends on paperwork. You need a recently paid city water or sewer bill at the gate. Turn up without one and the same load costs $15.00 — the city charges residents who cannot prove their account is current.
Three things are carved out of the free allowance entirely: tires, construction and demolition debris, and commercial loads. A remodel load is not a free load here, however small.
Non-residents pay $20.00 for a standard pickup load. Anything larger is weighed: residents exceeding a standard load pay $46.62 per ton, and non-residents in large trucks or trailers pay $70.83 per ton.
Tires are priced individually — $3.00 for a passenger tire, $15.00 for a semi-truck tire, $40.00 for a tractor tire. Yard trimmings go free to the shredding site, and cooking and used motor oil are accepted up to 5 gallons a day. Recycling covers cardboard, glass, plastics #1 and #2, and metal, but not paper.
Free mulch is available to take away on Fridays and Saturdays.
