The City of Sherman Citizens' Trash Drop-Off Station on South East Street is for residents on city service, and proof is required at the gate: a driver's licence plus a current City of Sherman water bill. The water bill is what establishes that you are paying for the service the drop-off is attached to.

Residents can bring household trash, bulky waste, brush and recyclables. For anything charged by weight, the city's disposal and commercial tonnage rate is $47.60 per ton, effective 1 January 2026.

If the problem is something too big to move yourself, the city runs a special bulky pickup instead — charged at $20 per cubic yard with an $80 minimum. That minimum means the service makes sense for a genuine multi-item clear-out and is poor value for a single chair. Four cubic yards gets you to the minimum, so it is worth gathering everything before booking.

The refusal list is mostly attached to the city's household hazardous waste events rather than the drop-off station itself, and it is specific: business and contractor waste, ammunition, explosives, medical and biohazard waste, tires, rims, CRT screens and drums are all excluded. Appliances containing Freon require certification that the refrigerant has been removed before they will be taken.

Contractors should note they are outside this service entirely — it is a residential facility.
