The City of Llano's Citizen Collection Station and Recycle Center is north of town on State Highway 16, on the west side of the road, and serves as the main disposal point for Llano and the surrounding county. It handles household waste, brush, tyres and a free recycling stream, and there is a separate RV dump on site.
Proof of residency may be requested before you dispose of anything, so bring something showing a Llano address. Credit cards are accepted at the gate. The city's own facility page confirms both of those points and gives the contact numbers as (325) 247-4158 and (325) 423-2435.
On charges, the city's facility page carries no figures at all: it directs readers to the City of Llano Master Fee Schedule for current resident and non-resident rates. We are not reprinting a price we cannot read off a live city page. The widely repeated figures of $2.50 a cubic yard up to 50 cubic yards and $5.00 a cubic yard above that, along with $1.75 for small tyres and $5.00 per 200-gallon RV dump, all trace back to Llano County environmental resource guides published between 2017 and 2022 rather than to the city's current schedule. Treat them as historic. Ring ahead or check the Master Fee Schedule before you load up, particularly for a large or mixed load, since the station prices by volume rather than by weight and a full trailer can run to several hundred dollars.
Tyres larger than 24 inches are not accepted, and neither is hazardous or radioactive waste. Recycling is free and takes aluminium cans, paper, cardboard, metal cans and plastic bottles coded 1 and 2.
Llano County's environmental resource guide lists the station as open Monday and Tuesday 9:30am to 5:30pm, closed Wednesday, then Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9:30am to 5:30pm, closed Sunday. That is a county publication rather than the city's own, so confirm before making a long trip.
