Denison's Residential Collection Station sits at 300 W FM 84, just north of Munson Park, and is open only to residents inside the city limits who hold an active city water account. Contractors and landlords are excluded by name, and the restriction is enforced at the gate: you must bring photo identification and a current water bill to use the site.
The fee structure is generous at the low end and then charges by volume. Household solid waste is free for the first cubic yard each month, with each additional cubic yard at $10.00. Brush and limbs get a larger allowance — three cubic yards free each month, and $6.00 for each cubic yard beyond that. Sales tax at 8.25 per cent is applied to all refuse services on top of those figures. For a typical resident clearing a garden, that means the first pickup-bed load of brush costs nothing at all; for household waste the free allowance is smaller and a full pickup load will attract a charge.
Six categories are refused outright: chemicals, commercial waste, construction material, dead animals, hazardous waste and wet paint. Construction material being on that list matters if you are clearing out after a renovation, because a load mixing building debris with household rubbish will not be accepted.
It trades on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8am until 5pm, and Saturdays from 8am until midday. The station is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays — the midweek closure is easy to miss and is the most common reason for a wasted trip.
One service that used to exist here has ended. Recycling drop-off by residents living outside the city limits was discontinued in February 2023 when the city's recycling contract moved from Waste Connections to Republic Services and the commercial recycling dumpsters were removed from the site. The station does not currently offer recycling.
