BVSWMA Twin Oaks Landfill at 2690 State Highway 30 in Anderson is the only public landfill serving the seven-county Brazos Valley region. It is owned and operated by the Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency, a non-profit local government corporation formed in 2010 by the cities of Bryan and College Station, and it is open to everyone in the region rather than to residents of those two cities alone.
The gate rate is $32.00 per ton for municipal solid waste, residential and commercial alike, with a $3.00 minimum charge. In practice a household bringing a car boot or a pickup bed of rubbish pays the $3.00 minimum, because a load that small never reaches the weight where the per-ton rate takes over. Two higher rates apply to specific materials: special waste — dead animals, non-friable asbestos, sludge, grit, grease, contaminated soils and food — runs to $42.00 a ton, minimum one ton and needs prior authorisation except for dead animals; hard-to-handle material such as railroad ties, landscape timber and utility poles is $52.00 per ton, also one-ton minimum.
Add-on charges are published rather than quoted at the gate. Tyres up to 24.5 inches are $5.00 each and larger tyres $20.00 each, both on top of the tipping fee. Freon units are $11.00 each. A pull-off is $25.00 per attempt, backhoe or forklift assistance $50.00, and a clean-up fee of $20.00 applies where a load leaves a mess. Mulch is sold at $8.00 a ton or $1.87 a bag, collection only.
Every vehicle must be covered or secured before entering, and an unsecured load can be charged an extra $30.00. The site takes used oil, cooking oil, antifreeze and oil filters at its residential oil recycling centre, and accepts electronics and appliances including refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners. Paint, bulk liquids, chemicals and household hazardous waste are refused at the landfill face and go to the agency's separate HHW programme.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturday 7am to 1pm, with Sundays closed, along with New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The rate sheet on the site is dated 1 October 2025.
