Williamson County Landfill is owned by the county and has been operated by WM under contract since the mid-1980s, which is why it publishes a proper rate card when most privately run Texas landfills do not. It sits at 600 Landfill Road just north of Hutto and serves the whole of the greater Williamson County region.

The headline number is simple and flat. A residential car, SUV or pickup without a trailer is $45.00 plus fees - it does not matter how much is in the back, which makes it good value for a heavy load and poor value for half a boot. Brush is $9.50 the cubic yard plus fees, and the county turns it into mulch that residents can collect free from the Hutto Recycling Center. Mattresses carry a $20.00 fee each. If site staff have to pull your load off for you, that is $30.00.

Two operational details will cost you a trip if you miss them. Safety vests are mandatory and are sold on site for $5.31 if you turn up without one. And there is no hand unloading after 4pm, even though the gate stays open until 5pm on weekdays - so a private vehicle arriving at half four is arriving too late. Opening is Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm with hand unloading 7am to 4pm, Saturday 7am to noon, closed Sunday.

Paint is handled generously at the adjoining recycling centre: Williamson County residents may bring up to ten gallons of water-based or latex paint a day at no charge, with anything from the eleventh gallon at $7.50 a gallon, and part gallons counted as full ones. Household hazardous waste proper is not accepted here day to day - the county and WM run collection days for that twice a year - and the Hutto Recycling Center does not take electronic waste at all.
