McCommas Bluff Landfill sits at 5100 Youngblood Road on the far southern edge of Dallas, and it is the city's own municipal landfill rather than a private contract site. For anyone living inside the Dallas city limits, that ownership matters at the gate: residents are not charged a disposal fee at all.
The free category is defined by vehicle rather than by weight. Dallas residents arriving in a passenger car, a pickup, or towing a trailer under 15 feet dump at no cost, provided they can show proof of residency when they arrive. Anything bigger than that falls outside the residential exemption.
There is one charge a resident can still walk into, and it is not small. An uncovered load costs $40.00. Tarping your trailer before you leave home is the difference between paying nothing and paying forty dollars, so it is worth the five minutes.
Commercial customers are weighed in. The gate rate is $43.60 per ton, and two surcharges sit on top of it — $2.00 environmental and $2.00 processing — so the figure that actually lands on a commercial ticket is $47.60 per ton.
The accepted list is unusually wide. Commercial, household and general municipal waste all go through, alongside grass clippings and brush, furniture, and appliances once the freon has been removed. Tires are taken from residents with a limit of six per year. Electronics are residents-only, so a contractor clearing a house cannot bring them here.
