The gate stands at 705 CR 2353 in Mineola and the attendant can be reached on (903) 768-2411. Opening runs Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with county holidays closed. Note the two dark days — Sunday and Monday both catch people out, so a weekend clear-out has to reach the gate by Saturday afternoon.
Household trash is charged between $1.25 and $3.00 depending on how much you bring, which makes a modest car load one of the cheapest disposal options in the district. Wood pallets run $2.50 each and a burn barrel with its contents costs $7.00.
Furniture carries its own tariff. A mattress or box spring is $20.00, a sofa $10.00, and a sofa with a metal sleeper frame inside $12.00. Recliners cost $7.00, dressers $5.00 and a television of any size $6.00. Bathroom fittings are cheaper: a shower insert or tub is $7.00 and a commode $3.00.
Two things cross the gate free of charge — scrap metal of any kind, and used motor oil. Tyres are taken at $4.00 each provided the rims have been removed.
Only two categories are refused outright: liquid paint and liquid poisons. The district also runs free recycling here and asks visitors to speak to the attendant about taking part.
