The Frio City Road Bulky Waste Collection Center at 1531 Frio City Road is free for San Antonio solid waste customers, and it is built specifically for the loads that curbside pickup cannot handle.

Eligibility runs through CPS Energy rather than an address. Residents need a recent CPS Energy bill showing the environmental fee, together with a photo ID. That environmental fee line is what marks you as a city solid waste customer, so check the bill you bring actually shows it.

The size limits are generous but specific. Bulky items are accepted up to 4 cubic yards — furniture, mattresses and appliances are all named. Construction debris is accepted too, but only up to 1 cubic yard, a quarter of the bulky allowance. That gap catches people mid-renovation.

Tires are accepted, which is unusual for a free municipal site. Separated recyclables are also taken, so a bulky run can double as a recycling drop.

What the center will not take is bagged household trash. This is not an overflow for your weekly bin — general trash belongs in curbside collection or at a transfer station. Brush is also refused here and handled through a different city stream.

Household hazardous waste goes to the Culebra Road HHW center instead. Commercial and contractor waste is not accepted at all.
