The Slaton Recycle Center and Collection Station stands at 371 East Binion Road, under the public works department of the city. It handles recycling and household drop-off for Slaton and the immediate area in Lubbock County.
Access is restricted. Customers must have a Slaton area address to use the recycle centre and collection station, and the city states plainly that non-Slaton addresses will be turned away. This is not a site to drive to from Lubbock. Residential users get six free dumps a calendar year with a maximum of one free dump in any month. There are no free dumps whatsoever for commercial businesses or commercial operations.
Hours change with the season. From April to October the gate is open Tuesday 8am to 4pm, Thursday noon to 8pm, and Saturday 8am to 4pm. From November to March it opens Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 8am to 4pm on each of those days. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday are closed year round in both schedules.
Once the free allowance is used, or if you are commercial or from outside the Slaton area, the published rates apply by vehicle size: $15 for pickups and small trailers up to 8 feet, $25 for medium trailers over 8 feet and up to 12 feet, $32 for large trailers over 12 feet and up to 16 feet, and $40 for bobtail trucks and trailers over 16 feet.
Tyres are priced separately and every tyre price includes a $4.00 handling fee. Car tyres are $8.00 and truck tyres $13.00. Larger sizes rise steeply: a 14x24 is $21.00, a 19.5x24 is $23.00, an 18x4R38 is $25.00 and an 18x4R36 is $39.00. The city publishes a separate acceptable and unacceptable items guide, and reserves the right to refuse any item. Call (806) 828-2024.
