The City of Brownfield Landfill is a regional site on Old Seagraves Road running a Type I lined pit alongside a Type IV construction and demolition pit, both under TCEQ permit 2170. The permit allows 75 tons a day across 139 acres, and the city puts the remaining life of the site at more than 200 years. Waste is accepted from local citizens, from anyone else in Terry County, and from the surrounding area.
Opening times run Monday to Friday, 8am until 5pm. The sanitation department that runs it employs 14 people across landfill operations, waste collection, alley cleanup and the recycling programme, with four staff based at the landfill itself. The gate number is (806) 637-4547.
Rates are set in Appendix A, Article 5.000 of the city's fee schedule, most recently amended by Ordinance 2144 adopted on 21 September 2023. If you hold an active utility account with the city, you count as a city resident, and the rate is $24.00 a ton on construction and demolition material and $48.00 a ton on municipal waste. Everyone else — anyone living or trading outside the city limits, and any solid waste disposal service provider hauling on someone else's behalf — is charged $31.25 a ton on construction and demolition material and $62.50 a ton on municipal waste.
That means the resident discount is exactly half price, and it turns on the utility account rather than on a postcode, so bring something showing the account when you weigh in. The city's own landfill page carries no figures at all; the numbers above come from the adopted fee schedule in the code of ordinances, which is the current published version.
