The City of Uvalde Municipal Landfill sits at 3774 FM 481, south-east of town, and is the only permitted municipal solid waste site in Uvalde County. It operates under TCEQ permit 1725 and takes household garbage, brush, lumber and leaves, construction and demolition debris, roofing, mixed rubbish, scrap metal and white goods, concrete and contaminated soil.

Gates are open 8am to 5pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 8am to noon on Saturday. The site is shut all day Sunday and Wednesday and on city-observed holidays. Bring a driver's licence and a recent utility bill — the city checks proof of residency at the gate, and every load must be covered to stop litter blowing on the approach road.

Almost everything is priced by weight at $0.0225 a pound, which works out near $45 a ton: household garbage, brush, lumber and leaves, construction and demolition debris, roofing, mixed rubbish and scrap metal all share that rate. Concrete debris is $7.50 a cubic yard and contaminated soil $15.00 a cubic yard. An uncovered or unsecured load is charged at $0.075 a pound, more than three times the standard rate. Car tyres 16 inches and under are $2.00 each, truck tyres $6.00, and tractor tyres and larger $20.00. Dead animals are $5.00 for a dog or cat and $20.00 for a horse or cow.

If you live outside the city limits, every one of those rates doubles. The schedule comes from ordinances 8.20.170 and 8.20.180, adopted with an effective date of 1 November 2010, and the city has published no change since.

City utility customers get free landfill use on four cleanup Saturdays a year, announced on the city's page. The separate city recycling centre at 117 South Camp Street takes cardboard, cleaned and de-labelled cans, and automotive motor oil on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturday mornings.
