The City of Snyder Landfill is out at 3621 South FM 1673 and it publishes a proper rate card, which makes planning a trip easy. Gates are open Monday to Friday from eight in the morning until half past four, plus the first Saturday of each month from eight until noon. The scale house number is 325-573-8826.
Every load is chargeable with one exception: bring a current City of Snyder residential utility bill and you get one standard load a month at no cost. That concession has a hard edge to it — anything from a construction, remodelling or demolition project is charged even when a resident brings it, so a bathroom rip-out will not go through on the utility bill.
For everything else the charge follows the weighbridge. People inside the city limits pay $33.50 a ton with a minimum of $16.00 covering the first 940 pounds. Anyone outside the city limits pays $38.00 a ton, minimum $27.00 up to 1,420 pounds. Special waste is $80.00 a ton with a $60.00 minimum to 1,600 pounds, and asbestos-containing material is $50.00 a ton with a flat $50.00 floor. Tyres have no fixed price — the gate charge tracks whatever the city is currently paying its own tyre contractor.
Two things worth budgeting for. TCEQ rules mean every load entering the site must be tarped or netted, and arriving unsecured adds $15.00 to the bill. And if you need staff to help drag a stubborn load out of a trailer, the yard offers a Pull Off service using its own anchor and equipment for $40.00, after you sign a waiver. Refrigerators and freezers need their refrigerant removed before they arrive, and the site takes no hazardous or liquid waste at all.
