Andrews has one of the better arrangements in West Texas and it is easy to miss on the city's own pages: landfill fees are waived for homeowners and tenants disposing of trash or debris from their own primary residence. You haul it yourself and you pay nothing. Tyres are excluded from the waiver. Clean brush and limbs, uncontaminated by other debris, are also free as long as the county keeps doing the chipping.

For everything else the rate is $48.00 per ton, or $2.40 per 100 pounds, with a $5.00 minimum. Waste regulated by the state Railroad Commission is charged three times the regular rate and needs prior approval before it arrives.

Check the hours carefully, because the city's own pages disagree. One page still lists Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 8.30am to 5.30pm, closed Wednesday and Sunday. The other carries a dated change: effective 2 June 2025, 8am to 5.30pm Tuesday to Friday and 8am to noon on Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday. We would plan around the dated version and ring first. Either way the gates shut 30 minutes before closing time to give you room to dump.

Two restrictions catch people out. Nothing containing Freon is accepted - no fridges, freezers or air-conditioning units, with no degassing option offered. And the landfill is restricted to waste originating inside the county; the city code is explicit that waste from outside Andrews County will not be accepted, so a load hauled in from Midland or Odessa will be refused at the gate whatever you offer to pay.

The site is a TCEQ-approved Arid Exempt landfill with two pits - Type I for household and commercial waste, Type IV for construction and demolition - each capped at 20 tons a day. That cap is why private sanitation packer trucks are barred outright. Dead livestock is refused. Commercial users can open a charge account against a deposit.
