Copperas Cove operates its transfer station at 2605 South FM 116, and unlike many small-city sites it publishes a full disposal tariff in the city fee schedule adopted for 2026. Loads are weighed. The smallest charge is $8.35, which covers anything up to two hundred and forty pounds. Above that the rate is $92.10 a ton for people who live in Copperas Cove and $118.40 a ton for everyone else — worth knowing before a Killeen or Lampasas resident makes the drive.
Two extras catch people out. An uncovered load attracts a surcharge of $13.53, so tarp the trailer. And if all you want is a weight ticket, weighing a vehicle on its own costs $8.00.
Tyres are taken only off the rim and only in the marked area. The 2026 schedule prices them at $4.91 for a passenger or light truck tyre under 22.5 inches, $11.46 between 22.5 and 24.5 inches, and $32.75 above that, agricultural tyres included. A passenger tyre still mounted on its rim, under 22.5 inches, is $30.00. The site takes household rubbish, construction debris, sheet rock, shingles, furniture, metal and brush, each in its designated area, plus cooking oil in the container provided. It will not take paint, chemicals, lead, explosives, liquid waste, grease trap or septic pumpings, asbestos material, slaughterhouse waste, medical waste from clinics or anything the state classes as special waste.
