The City of Brownwood Landfill is on FM 45 South, and it publishes one of the clearer resident-discount structures in central Texas — along with one penalty that can double your bill in a single move.

City residents who bring a water bill and a matching driver's licence pay $44.00 per ton, with an $11.00 minimum charge. That minimum is what a small load actually costs; the per-ton rate only starts to bite once you are hauling meaningful weight.

Commercial customers and anyone from outside the city limits pay higher rates than the residential figures above.

The penalty is the one to remember. An unsecured or uncovered load is charged at double the rate. On a resident ticket that turns an $11.00 minimum into $22.00 and a per-ton rate of $44.00 into $88.00, purely for not tarping.

Tires are handled as a separate stream at $40.00 per ton, and only in sliced or shredded form. Whole tires are on the prohibited list, so this is not the place to bring a set off the rims uncut.

Residential and commercial waste, brush, and construction and demolition debris are all accepted. Hazardous waste, septic pumpings and grease-trap waste are refused.
