Waco moved its landfill in early 2026 and the current site is at 4730 TK Parkway in Axtell, out to the north-east of the city. It opens Monday to Friday from eight until half past four and Saturday mornings from eight until half past eleven, closed Sunday. The city also runs a separate transfer station at 6171 South University Parks Drive with much longer weekday hours, half past six in the morning to five.

Rates at the landfill split four ways. Ordinary household waste is $52.00 a ton if you live in McLennan County and $75.00 a ton if you do not. Construction and demolition debris is $75.00 a ton, rising to $125.00 a ton once concrete or brick is in the load — so separating rubble from timber and plasterboard genuinely saves money here. Everyone pays a $10.00 minimum whatever the weight. At the transfer station the single rate is $72.00 a ton.

City of Waco solid waste customers get a real concession: up to one ton, two thousand pounds, four times a year at no extra charge. Bring the current City of Waco utility bill, paper or on screen, together with photo identification, and bring it every single time — the exemption is checked at the scale, not assumed.

Two practical warnings. Personal protective equipment is required of customers at both sites; both scale houses sell the kit, tax included - $8 buys a vest, $15 a hard hat, $4 a pair of glasses. And the transfer station will not take brush, yard waste or concrete — those have to go out to Axtell. The refused list runs to paint and any liquid waste, lithium, nickel-cadmium and lead-acid cells, engine oil along with the filters it came out of, anything hazardous from around the home, plus ammunition, explosives and fluorescent tubes.
