On the east side at 2755 Rigsby Road, this is the fourth of San Antonio's bulky waste collection centers and the closest one for households east of downtown. The city's current page gives the street as Rigsby Road; older directories and news coverage often say Rigsby Avenue, and both refer to the same gate.

There is no fee if you already pay the city's Environmental Fee. Staff check a recent CPS Energy statement against a photo ID before letting you tip. The centre serves residents only - material arriving from commercial waste haulers is turned away.

Two limits govern what you can bring in one visit: four cubic yards of bulky items, and one cubic yard of construction material. Loads must sit below the fender line of the truck bed, so over-stacking will cost you the trip.

Acceptable material runs to furniture, mattresses, large appliances, water heaters and AC units, sinks, tubs and counter tops, carpeting, glass and mirrors, barbecue grills, auto parts, flattened cardboard, up to six rimless car tyres and a cubic yard of lumber. Refused: household trash and bagged garbage, clothes and bed linens, brush, leaves and yard waste, soil, rocks and concrete, boards longer than ten feet, railroad ties, styrofoam, unbagged insulation, hazardous material, 275-gallon IBC tote tanks, and bedding showing bed bugs or blood.

Opening times are Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., plus Saturday from 8 a.m. until midday. Sunday and Monday it is closed. Cover your load on the way in - San Antonio's tarp ordinance carries a $5 penalty at city sites.
